Ideas for our childrens film.

Our group had many ideas for our children's film, we thought about:
- 'space jam'
- something along the lines of magic (harry potter)
- toy story
- wall'e
- Wallace and Gromit
- underdog
- chicken little
- something along the lines of music
- dreaming, and wakes up (dream could be about something he/she would like to do one day)
- high school musical
- napoleon dynamite

We also had a lot of ideas on what to do the film as (how it would be created):
- using us
- drawings
- clay

In the end we used our ideas and decided on:
- using people (not clay/drawing, because we thought it might take a bit to long)
- using ideas from Napoleon dynamite we decided to make our credits appear in different places (e.g. mirrors, bowls, door etc.).
- we are using a character that is getting ready for school and when he picks things up credits appear and things like that.
- the character is very protective about what his friends think about him (so basically he try's to be someone he isn't).

video

this is effective because it uses colourful backgrounds and good effects with the surroundings.

they did this 12 frames per second, 900 hand-cut images were composited onto a background to create this opening sequence.
Though the low 12 frames/second might give a jumpy, 'laggy' feel, it was accepted as a deliberate chioce as it is the effect they wanted from the scene. the opening scene is also ocompanied by an upbeat soundtrack.

Audio

The song was choose becasue it is the video in .mp3 format, it fits well enouhg that you cant be sure which of the music or video has been made to adapt for the other, which is how it should be. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20PQBtyfNZY

Preliminary Task T2-55

T2-55 PRELIMINARY TASK - YR12_2009 from SATMEDIASTUDIES on Vimeo.

What is continuity editing?

The three rules.
180 degree rule

180 degree rule, is a basic guide line in film that states that two characters in the same scene should always same left/right relationship to each other. if the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, its is called 'crossing the line'.

Match on action
is when you cut during an action to another camera angle but showing the action from the same point in time that you left it from the previous shot. this is important to continue the flow of the scene.

Shot/reverse shot
shooting a conversation over the shoulder allows both characters to remain in the scene throughout.

Write abut how far you think your group succeeded in demonstrating these basic rules. Refer to examples to show where you did and did not succeed.
